We have arrived!

After 12 days of hiking, we arrived at the Cathedral of Santiago at about 10:30 am on 12 October 2013.  We spent the last night in Villamiaor, hiked over Monto de Gozo, today, around the airport, and through the city to reach the cathedral.   We were turned away at the church.  No backpacks allowed.  We did find the Pilgrim’s office, received our Compostela, found our hotel and returned to the church in time for mass.   The giant incense burner was quite interesting to see but we did not stay long enough to see it in action.  We did join the hordes of people standing in line to walk across the high alter to hug the Apostle and then proceed down to view his crypt. We are no longer able to touch the marble pillar that has been worn away through the centuries by the touch of the many pilgrims that have passed through.

Tired, but happy to have completed our journey, we intent to relax for a few days before continuing onward.

HOORAY!  200 km DONE!  Someone here is already returning to do more!
