Smile, You’re on Candid Camera!

China will be China. There were cameras everywhere! I mean everywhere. Every lamp post, every bill board, and every traffic signal had multiple cameras. There was even cameras in our bus and our tour guide asked if she could photograph herself with us in the bus.
Sanya, China is one of the few beach areas in China. Once we got there, it was a bit of a surprise. It was very much a touristy town full of beach goers, mainly Asian tourists, utilizing the restaurants, bars, umbrellas, and boardwalks that surrounded the area.
Getting off the ship required some work. We had to pick up our passport from the ship and we had to have a copy of the passport, too. In China Customs, they actually kept our passport and gave us back the stamped copy. After that, we were met by a smiling agent holding gun-shaped plastic instrument in his hand. With no words, he signaled us to stop and he held the instrument to our head It took us a minute to figure out that he was taking our temperature.
We paired up with J (the God-button guy) and MJ to tour the area. Safety in numbers. We put our toes in the sand and water, had a drink on the boardwalk and shopped the local market. George bought a wonder saw that later would cause some questions when being brought back aboard the ship. Then, of course, there were ore grandkid gifts to be bought.
It was a short day at the beach on the South China Sea! Glad we had the opportunity to see more of China last year!
