Homeward Bound

It’s Saturday, August 19, 2023 and our trip is drawing to a close.  Yesterday we drove through back from Denmark, through the impressive tunnel/bridge that brought us in, entered Sweden and then passed on to Norway.   It was quite a long day but great scenery again and light traffic.  We even found our way to the waterfront of Oslo where we watched the yachts as we dined at a recommended restaurant,  Restaurant Louise.  The seafood pasta and the creamy fish soup were perfect.  We strolled the promenade for a while and then made our way to the airport hotel for an early departure this morning.

We enjoyed wine and cheese in the hotel bar as we relived our last 37 days.  We went to bed early but we received a surprise phone call from our granddaughter, Hayden, at 1:00 am. Haha.  Our alarm sounded at 3:30 and we were off to the airport, turned in our rental car and checked in for our flight.    All was ok with some usual flight frustrations concerning changed seats, slight delays and all of that but nothing like the trip from ATL to BOS in the beginning.  The Paris airport was a nightmare but we made it to our flight in time.  Through a series of unfortunate incidents, we ended up with seats on the last row of the plane.  I thought it would be awful, but, you know what, it was private and not much congestion.  Answered prayers.  Once in ATL, George’s backpack came up missing.  Ugg.  Still, better at the end of the trip than the beginning, right?  It is supposed to arrive at our home tomorrow.  Time will tell.

Katie, Hayden, and Henry delivered us safely home so over-and-out until next time!
